My January column for Fantasy, “The Year of Magical Thinking,” is live! It covers a year of magical-realism-type movies.

So, you’ll notice it’s February. (You are sharp.) What can I say? Apparently at Fantasy Magazine, we start the year when we damn well please!

Don’t worry, there is January. It’s at the end. And it’s good advice for all of 2010, dammit: falling in love with more than three tragic women in one year is Not Recommended! That’s how you break up your indie band!

P.S. It took me twice as long to write about Whale Rider as it did any of the rest of them; *uncontrollable sobbing*, which was my first draft, is not really helpful to anyone.
