It's a television drama. Not a documentary. It is meant to be entertaining and provocative to the watcher. I did history as an undergrad and my knee jerk reaction is to bag the clothing too but then I remembered its only a television show. <br>I think this show is actually pretty decent for what it is. The makers have done a rather good job creating an enthralling drama with historical content. In some parts particularly accurate content may i add. Plus some (actually most) of the acting is really fantastic. They give these historical figures life and colour and make them more accessible and personable to the average punter who doesn't like to read a history book. I avoided watching this show for ages because I thought my toes would curl with historically accurate irritation but I'm glad to say I found that I am not that uptight and I actually enjoyed it. I even enjoyed the even the costumes.
