Love it. I had to suffer through this movie, and this is so true. “. . . who seems to be capable when someone is not screaming “CHARMING! MORE CHARMING!” at him through a megaphone, as happened here for 90 minutes straight. ” PREACH.

We can’t be the only people who want to watch Emma Thompson chew scenery for a couple of hours, why isn’t the film industry catering to our needs. I often enjoy Jeremy Irons going over the top as well, but I thought the fact that his accent wobbled in the trailer had to be a bad sign.

On a completely unrelated note, I would like to OFFICIALLY register my displeasure (this is the paper of record, right?) about movie posters where the names of the actors don’t line up underneath the actors in the poster. Am I the only one this ever bothers? Look at that poster — they have all the names of all the people in it, each name is directly under a person, they just purposefully mixed them up! Why would they do that?

Oh, that would set me up for ever. She was, as always, sublime. She knew exactly how to subvert her own material while devouring scenery left and right, and unlike SOME peoplejeremyirons, her accent never wavered! She was not in it enough for my taste, but I suspect that for my taste it would have been a movie about mostly just her.

A very entertaining write up as always, thank you! My thoughts on seeing the trailer were that I just need to see the Emma Thompson scenes (so much <3 for her), so I'm hoping someone is going to get that on youtube soon
