Wondercon!
I’m a Special Guest at WonderCon this weekend in Anaheim! My schedule is below; in particular, I’m excited about my presentation on Saturday at 11:30: “The Empire of a Wicked Woman” tackles comics, Catwoman, some powerful women in history, and the occasional cat-shaped car. See you there!     FRIDAY, MARCH 31 The Dichotomy Between Good and Bad Sometimes a hero has to make a bad decision and sometimes a villain falls onto the side of good. What makes a hero or a villain as these lines become blurrier?… Read more »
CATWOMAN: KEEPER OF THE CASTLE & INHERITANCE
For a year, I had the chance to write one of my favorite comics characters of all time, alongside amazing artists and editors. The arc is complete in these two volumes, which include the 8-page post-Convergence sneak peek and the Catwoman Annual with Eiko’s origin story in it, so things are fairly self-contained. I learned quite a bit working on this. I’m honored to have had the chance to tell a Catwoman story with this crew; the real-time comics experience is unlike anything else, and I couldn’t have asked for… Read more »
Catwoman 43 & 44!
Yes, I’m behind on Catwoman blog posts! (My excuse is very handy, given that I was busy writing Catwoman.) Catwoman 43, “Them That Bear It,” and Catwoman 44, “Fire,” are out in the world! (As always, available at Comixology, and maybe at your LCS, who knows?) I have had an absolute blast working on this arc, and watching it come to life with David Messina and Lee Loughridge continues to be a fantastic experience. (The Kevin Wada covers are the icing on the cake; her take-no-shit face as she glances… Read more »
Catwoman 42: "Gathered From All Sides"
Catwoman #42 is out in the world! In “Gathered From All Sides,” Selina needs to be Catwoman, Spoiler just needs A Catwoman, and their reunion goes just about as well as you could expect for two people who last met when one of them kidnapped the other one. There’s a preview available at MTV, which features Selina in what might be her sharpest suit yet, a chat between old friends, and a reminder that Bill Turner is part of something bigger than himself. (The quote this month is from Empress… Read more »
Catwoman 41: "Caesar or Nothing"
Catwoman’s back, and so am I! (Both a little belated, announcement-wise, but what can you do.) Post-Convergence, the story picks up with Selina having locked down her empire. As Catwoman, she can undermine Black Mask with no one the wiser – and has backup in Eiko. As herself, she rules the Calabrese cartel and has kept relative peace among the families. Nothing can shake her. Except the news that Batman’s dead. In my first arc, “Keeper of the Castle” (which will be out in trade soon – stay tuend for… Read more »
Catwoman #40: "The Issue and End"
Last week, Catwoman ended an arc and started a new one – in both the literal and figurative senses. Selina as a mob boss was always going to be a big step, but it seemed like such rich ground for her, and am really glad Gotham gets to spend a little more time unpacking this long con – particularly since this arc gives us more crunchy stuff in the Gotham underworld when it’s going to look a little different (thanks to some of the events in Batman), and Selina will… Read more »
